Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson
“Dead girl walking,” the boys say in the halls.
“Tell us your secret,” the girls whisper, one toilet to another.
I am that girl.
I am the space between my thighs, daylight shining through.
I am the bones they want, wired on a porcelain frame.
Lia and Cassie were best friends, wintergirls frozen in matchstick bodies. But now Cassie is dead. Lia's mother is busy saving other people's lives. Her father is away on business. Her step-mother is clueless. And the voice inside Lia's head keeps telling her to remain in control, stay strong, lose more, weigh less. If she keeps on going this way—thin, thinner, thinnest—maybe she'll disappear altogether.
In her most emotionally wrenching, lyrically written book since the National Book Award finalist Speak, best-selling author Laurie Halse Anderson explores one girl's chilling descent into the all-consuming vortex of anorexia.
What can I say about this book.
First of all I wanted to point out that I didn't pick out this book just like that, I got it because I saw a book review on YouTube from Dmfriend25.
He described this book to be SO good.
But everyone has their own opinions.
I found this book to be a little to much for me because I don't get why girls are anorexic....I really did try to understand but it was a fail.
The main character 'Lia' was always counting her calories she didn't go over 100 calories a day, or sometimes didn't eat at all, even though she was craving food, but always telling herself that food is a monster.
In the book was crossed out words that I found kinda annoying.
The other thing was the chapter titles which were ~0010~ which it took me a min to realize it was the chapter headings.
Theres other things in the book that I didnt like but thats saying too much and I dont want to spoil the book, in case anyone wants to read it.
Like i said everyone has their own liking of a book.
I did finish the book because I have to finish a book...period, not because I liked it.
I'm not going to say anymore, not even if I liked the ending or not, because that's saying to much ;)

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.
Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen regards it as a death sentence when she steps forwrd to take her sister's place in the Games. But katness has been close to dead before--and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

I just finished this earlier today, but it took me awhile to finish it, but not because it wasnt great, but just because I have an 8 month old baby.
I just truly loved this book, I would have finished this in one day, tops! I never wanted to put it down (but had to).
I was always at the edge of my seat when it came with this book.
And to think I wasnt going to read this book because of the cover, yes I do judge a book by the cover, but this book has truly proved me wrong!
Terrific book!!
